Privacy Policy
Blurami is a tool for protecting the people in your photos. It would be a poor one if it did not protect you as well.
1. Overview
Blurami is an iPhone app for reviewing photos before you share them: it finds the people in them, lets you decide what should happen to each one, and produces a separate copy to share.
The work is done by models that run in the app on your device. No photo is uploaded for it.
2. Data controller and contact
The provider of Blurami can be reached at support@blurami.com. Full provider information is available in the Imprint.
3. Faces
So that a rule applies to the same person across several photos, Blurami detects faces and groups the ones that appear to belong together. The grouping data this produces is biometric data. It is created on your device, stored there, and not uploaded to us.
The grouping compares faces only against faces in your own photos. It does not say who somebody is. A person gets a name only if you type one.
The legal basis is your consent, given when you turn face detection on and withdrawable at any time by turning it off or removing the app.
4. Your photos
Photos you add remain in the app on your device. Blurami does not handle video. It does not modify your originals: an export is always a new file.
5. Features that hand a picture out
Everything Blurami does today happens on your device. No photo leaves it.
That could change for individual paid features, because some image editing needs a model that will not run on a phone. This section settles in advance what would then apply.
Such a feature says beforehand that it sends a picture, and asks you. It never runs by itself and never in the background. The intended providers are OpenAI and Google (Gemini). They receive the one picture you hand over and the instruction for it - no account identifier, no name, no location, no other photo.
We use them on paid plans, where the requests are not used to train models. They are still stored briefly, for abuse detection and because of statutory retention duties. What applies is something the providers state themselves:
Before such a feature runs, we ask you to confirm that everyone in the picture has agreed to it. That is your assurance, not the consent of those people - they never speak to Blurami. We record that we asked: your account, the time, and a checksum of the image, not the image itself.
Such features change a picture. They do not tell you who somebody is.
6. Cloud storage, if you connect it
Blurami can save exports to a cloud account you connect yourself - for example iCloud, Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive. That happens only after you authorize it and only for the files you choose. The provider then processes them under its own terms.
7. Your account
Signing in uses Sign in with Apple. We never see your Apple password. We receive a stable identifier and the e-mail address Apple passes on; if you hid it, that is a relay address from Apple.
The account exists so that your plan survives a reinstall. It holds none of your photos, subjects or rules.
8. Google user data
If you sign in with Google or connect Google Drive, Blurami receives data through Google APIs. This section is the disclosure Google's API Services User Data Policy requires.
What is accessed. Signing in with Google: your e-mail address and the basic
profile Google releases. Connecting Google Drive for exports: only the files this
app creates there - Blurami requests drive.file and sees nothing else in Drive.
What it is used for. Only the feature you invoked: signing you in, and writing the files you asked to have written.
Who it is shared with. Nobody. It is not sold and not combined with data from other sources.
How it is protected. Transferred over TLS; held only where this policy says.
How long it stays. As long as the connection exists. Disconnecting Google or deleting your account removes it.
Limited Use
Blurami's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular, Google user data is not used for:
- serving targeted advertising or building advertising profiles
- selling or transferring it to data brokers, information resellers or other third parties
- determining credit-worthiness or for lending purposes
- training or improving generalized AI or machine learning models
9. What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not show advertising and do not build advertising profiles.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
10. Support
If you contact support we process what you send: your text, your e-mail address and whatever you attach. Please do not attach photos of people who have not agreed to it.
11. Deletion
You remove subjects, rules, exports and the grouping data by deleting them in the app or removing the app. Files you have already exported or passed on are outside the app's reach.
12. Your rights
You can request access to the data held for your account, its correction or its deletion, object to processing, and complain to a supervisory authority. Requests go to support@blurami.com.
13. Changes
This policy changes when the app changes. The version with the date above applies.
